AT THE 12TH ANNUAL SLACK KEY FESTIVAL KAUA'I STYLE

AIRS LOCALLY LIVE, NOVEMBER 21, 3 P.M. TO 9 P.M. PST
ON KSER, 90.7 FM EVERETT

Aloha! November 2'st brings a six-hour program of ki ho'alu - the
traditional guitar music of Hawai'i, performed by fourteen of Hawai'i's
finest artists, live on stage at the Radisson Kaua'i Beach Hotel and
broadcast world-wide by Otherworld Media's "vacation radio show,"
LIVE FROM THE ISLANDS.

Among the top artists to be heard is Led Kaapana, legendary slack key master
and vocalist who, as a teenager formed Hui 'Ohana, one of the hottest groups
of the '70s and '80s with 14 best-selling albums to their credit. Led has
since toured in the U.S., Europe and Japan, worked with Allison Krauss,
Dolly Parton and Chet Atkins and performed solo and with other artists on
dozens of albums and several documentary and concert films.
(Find out more about Led at www.ledkaapana.com)

Also appearing are Dennis Kamakahi, one of Hawai'i's most prolific composers
of songs in the Hawai'ian language and his son David, an ukulele stylist
and vocalist. Dennis and David were invited by Disney to sing and play the
main theme song for "Lilo & Stitch 2" the up-coming sequel
to the popular animated feature.

Brother Noland is an innovative ki ho'alu artist, whose style also embraces
jazz, rock, reggae and alternative. He has over a dozen albums to his
credit, plus a recent book, "The Lessons of Aloha." He is a strong
community and youth advocate.

Cindy Combs, known as "Slack Key Lady," is a regular Friday night performer
at the Hanapepe Café on the Garden Isle, and a part-time DJ for KUAI.
Producer George Winston has praised her command of the rare G6th tuning.

players" of slack key. His music integrates elements of folk, rock,
classical and bluegrass along with the indigenous styles of the Islands.

Other artists include Mike Kaawa, Hawai'i's finest 12-string guitar player,
who describes his music as "Hawaiian with an attitude;" ukulele player and
singer Walter Keale who follows in the footsteps of his celebrated uncle Moe
Keale; and David Kahiapo, who began his professional career at 17,
and has contributed to some 30 recording projects.
